Downsizing
Made in a weekend for the GMTK 2023 Game jam.
Welcome to Downsizing
A city builder is a game where you build and manage a city, trying to create synergies between the different buildings and the environment.
But like in every society, people don't see it this way. For some capitalist city builders are evil. You are one of them, but you only have few supporters and time lacks before the next election, which is to be held in 8 months.
Your goal: sabotage the city and hit capitalism where it hurts: obliterate the cities revenue. If it reaches 0 before the end of the term, you saved the day!=
NOTE: The game is in 1920 x 1080 and scales poorly. So you'll need to launch it full screen to ensure all is working properly, by clicking the icon in the bottom right corner.
How to play:
Hover over buildings with your mouse to get info on the building sabotage cost. Click on it to start sabotaging. That's it!
At any point you can pause the game to take more time to think and trigger your actions while the game is paused.
Buildings description:
- Houses generate workers for factory nearby
- Factories generate cash proportional to the number of workers they have
- Banks make money proportional to how much nearby factories make
- Power plants supply energy for nearby buildings. Without it they can't work!

Is there a place where I can see the city's entire revenue and how much time I have before the end of the term?
Also, how do I pause?
Hi!
We're currently having some display issue. Currently, if you have a 1920x1080 screen or less you will need to scroll to the bottom right corner of the page to click the fullscreen button, otherwise the game will be too zoomed in and you won't see the top bar where the city revenue, time remaining and pause button is.
We're working on fixing this. Apologies for the inconvenience
